Why would anyone want much retail in their subdivision?
Because it was never meant to be a subdivision as much as it's supposed to be emulating a small town. Sidewalks, parks, green spaces and a place to get a cup of coffee in foot distance.

I agree with this. Went to forks and corks for the first time a few months ago and saw how much potential terra bella had. They just need a bit more traffic in the area to drive some of the potential businesses. Maybe the apartment will help that initially. My wife loves it in there and has already been talking about getting a home in there at some point (we just moved into our new construction home 9 months ago smh).

Do you live around the terra Bella area?

Not everyone wants to drive everywhere.
Growing up in Gentilly Terrace, we could ride our bikes to all sorts of retail outlets: K&B, St. Francis Cabrini...

quote:Where? they can't be living in there LOL. I've spent a good bit of time in there as of recent and the only unsavory people i've seen are the people working on the houses and doing the lawns. If you want out so bad, sell it LOL. With all the houses going up, somebody will buy. Can you address my previous question about the garages? Is that your vette out there, LOL?
The thing is with terra Bella is that I see white unsavory people coming here from other towns

Carrera, I don’t want to move out, I think I’m just paranoid. Hopefully the 1085 area will prosper.

I get that, i've looked at homes in there, but it's really just a gimmick. Plans should be adjusted if it's going to negatively impact those who've bought in there. If more and more retail is brought in, even if high end, it attracts all manner of people who then notice potential targets.

I agree with you. I live on the NS, and the biggest complaint I have is stuck up, old, vanilla, white people. The snob factor will have me looking elsewhere before anything else.

That’s the reason the area has been as safe as it has.

It was better than we realized. We'd ride our bikes to the lakefront, or to Lake Vista where we'd explore for hours. It wasn't a sterile suburban life, either. If you rode your bike the other way, you'd end up by the St. Bernard projects and realize it was time to turn around.

It’s sad. People who haven’t lived outside of Louisiana don’t know how shitty it is and that people in decent suburbs elsewhere in the country don’t have to worry about this crap.
I mean, someone actually advised that it’s just acceptable to leave doors unlocked so your windows don’t get broken into. Wtf? As if this is just normal life for people. In my experience, in a decent suburb anywhere else in the country outside of Louisiana, it isn’t an issue.

Yes!! I remember getting a little rush when we’d hit state housing, I miss those days.
