The fact that it has been recently reclassified and further expounded upon hints at an element of subjectivity in the application/interpretation of these rules.

Of course. Homosexuality was once a mental disorder. Once thousands and thousands of patients were seen that were both homosexual and not mentally ill, the DSM changed to reflect it. However, distress from being homosexual can cause a mental instability. Just like distress from being too short, or too fat, or too skinny or too whatever.

That's the distinction, and it is an important one.

How does a statement about being informed by morality compromise the scientific method? Seems like you are really entrenched in this notion of painting them as anti-science and are reaching big time.
Again, how can you defend using your moral sense to evaluate research? Why should empirical data be judged based on morality? Why haven't I ever seen a "Moral Considerations" section in peer-reviewed articles?

I think the best way to reconcile this is that research needs to be conducted, but not judged based on morality.

Of course there are standards to what can be done and on whom with regards to medical research, however analyzing that data needs to be done without regards to morality.

Yes, that's my exact position. Obviously you have to use moral sense to decide what to research and how to conduct your research. For instance, a lot of the research that doctors in Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan did was morally reprehensible, because they used human beings like lab rats.

However, once you've decided what research to do and how to ethically and morally conduct that research, the data should be judged dispassionately and without regards to morality.

How does any of that conflict with the statement you picked out?

None of those are very good comparisons because they don't deal with a biological fact.

Being short is a biological fact. Feeling depressed or distressed from being short is a mental disorder.

A patient's sex is a biological fact determined at birth (mostly except for some syndromes that cause mixed sets of genitalia or an absence of genitalia). A patient's gender is assigned by the patient. Feeling distressed from that assignment not coinciding with your sex is a mental disorder. Not feeling distress from your gender identity not matching your sex is not a mental disorder.

Height isn't binary. It's relative. Same for weight. It's a different concept. Have to duck out now. Later cucks.

Binary doesn't have much to do with this, and technically sex isn't binary either. There are portions of the population that do not fit into XX or XY, and portions of the populations that do fit into XX or XY that do not have external genitalia to match. There are also portions of the population that fit into XX or XY that do have external genitalia to match that do not coincide with how they view their gender.
