Just got a text from my niece w/ a pic of her husband at the bar. His first time. She couldn’t believe he’d never been so she threw him in the car and went.

Got me thinking of some great times in that hole in the wall. I used it as a first date filter for a long time. If a girl turned her nose up at the place and did not GET the coolness of it- - no 2nd date.

Anyone remember Jim the bartender with his barrel chest and handlebar mustache. Talk about cliche’ but it was an awesome place.

That’s the cool thing about The Patio. If you know, you know. Best kept secret in BR for over 50 years

I feel like that’s the only place still left where regulars just keep a running weekly tab and payout on payday. It’s great though in a special-gross kind of way

It’s lowkey the perfect hangout after a night game at TS

Thousands of late afternoon's spent in The Patio over the years many of them sitting at the bar talking to John Mahaffey
Can't believe he's been gone for 10 years

I remember when John did the 10pm news he’d come straight to The Patio after they finished- - - he would be wearing his button down shirt, tie, sport coat, shorts and flip flops. He was Covid-Zoom styled before it was cool.

On Friday nights before LSU football games, Jim would wear a shirt of the Saturday night opponent.

Jim was from Boston and sounded like it. The popular song on the jukebox was “She Ran off with [a person who annoys you].” Some of the dumbest people I ever encountered went there. As did some of the smartest. Weird, weird place.

Been there several times but it’s been a few years.

Time Out was my place though. Played many a card game after hours and bet on many football boards there.
