Particulates coming out of air conditioning vents

In the last couple of weeks I seem to be having some kind of particulates coming out of the air conditioning vents at my house. It is bigger than typical dust but smaller than a grain of sand. It sort of looks like there is a light sheen of dandruff over everything that is under a vent.
Does anybody have any ideas what this could be?

Squirrels get in a house, eating nuts and chewing wood, all the while relieving themselves the entire time. The debris from constant activity is what's blowing all over you and the house.
