Let me help you. What you are saying was there were deflections in the slab when they poured the concrete and when it rains there were puddles in the center?

lol that's called ponding.

Bird gotta bathe too.

That’s what an old black cement finisher told me one time when he had a dozen places holding water on his finished slab.

Problem with bringing in a big crane is the load on the street. It would likely collapse the pavement. Isn't Canal Street built on top of an old Canal?

To be fair ponding is usually referring to a less than an inch depression caused by float/finish issues

A 3” bird bath is an “oh frick”

This is stupid. Are they telling us there is no way to hook another mobile crane to it and take it down without collapsing? We have to just wait until they fall down? Seems legit
sound to me you are the idiot. "Mobile" cranes as you put it just. Don't reach that high. Look at the crane they have there now.

And we’d have to take down streetcar lines, which shouldn’t be that costly in the grand scheme of things.

Well no. In a ponding incident the water that accumulates creates more deflection which accumulates more water and so on until failure.

I couldn’t care less. No one in industry is calling a 3” bird bath ponding (or a bird bath)

Funny thing is I wasn’t nitpicking your post but being sarcastic. These threads always bring out the literal nazis

Big crane is at el. 308'. There are mobile cranes that could reach that high with room to spare but you run into foundation issues and room real quick.

The height isn’t as much an issue as keeping the pick crane stable due to the jib arm being counterbalanced

You could easily tip the pick crane over trying to remove the jib

the structural failure of water accumulating in a slab is called ponding. Idk what you contractors call it.

You must have never see a tower crane dismantled. You’re the idiot. The issue is trying to stabilize it since there are no tie backs to the building. I’m wondering if they could brace the mast down to the ground or concrete structure and then bring it down.
