Whatever helps him in his grief.

I don't think for him it is/was about hate vs love or violence vs peace.
Its about liberty/freedom. I will make my choice regardless of how you try to influence me.
Whether it be with fear or false promises of safety and security. Whether you support or oppose me, agree or disagree I have the right to choose how I will live. You cannot and will not define me or my actions only I can do that, and I will.
And that is the biggest frick you to those that try to force their will upon any of us.

You just can't win a war against a hateful sect of a religion with concepts like love and tolerance and forgiveness.
You don't have to be hateful and filled with rage to bomb the shite out of a country/faction that poses an imminent threat.

Maybe, but I wonder if this is oversold. I think we're applying our western approach to it, thinking "well if I was super aggressive and wanted to draw someone into a fight, the worst response would be forgiveness, etc."
In actuality, I won't be surprised if the response is "good, they'll be even more meek and easier to subjugate."
I entirely agree that we have to win this without giving up the things we value most. But ultimately, we still have to win.

God damnit, that sucks. I've got a 2 year old and a 12 week old and i couldn't imagine having to do it on my own because some twisted frick decided his fake god wanted him to kill innocent people.

Looks if dude is a pacifist and after this he remains one, that's his win.
If I want to fight and fighting means blood is spilled, but I accept that and will engage in the fight understanding the cost and I still fight . Then I win.
I think what we was trying to say is your desire to take from me my free will to choose who I am and how I react has failed.
For the record I'm ok with turning the region into glass. But that was my opinion before this. And that's not driven by hate nor fear. My opinion is they wont stop 'til they are dead, based upon thousand of years of the historical record.

We would never send troops to Syria to shoot up a wedding or to drop a bomb on a school or to burn a funeral. They would. We won't.
And that's why they are winning. They do whatever it takes (as they see it). We try to fight while maintaining some vague notion of political correctness and we go overboard trying to prevent collateral damage.
At some point we either have to accept the fact that the way to beat them is violence with extreme prejudice or we just slowly surrender one terrorist attack at a time.
Granted, civilized people are uncomfortable with this, and that is not a bad thing. But we are not dealing with civilized people.
