It's not like there will be anything resembling baseball going on but she will be outside, not wasting her summer inside.
My toddler plays outside all the time without being in a structured sports league.

That is great, seriously. Do you hold it against me that I try to incorporate some structure through organized sports?

My daughter can tell the difference between all the sports on television, and calls them by name when they are on. She may not be able to comprehend the rules of baseball, but neither can the umpires in high school.

I appreciate your intentions.
But they're still too young. WAY too young. They're not learning anything because they just don't care about that sort of thing yet.

Exactly. What's the point? When you can do that at home. Or at a park?
it's a good way to meet other people with children around your child's age :dunno :

As can mine. (Well, she told me she didn't want to watch football yesterday when I put it on the MLB Channel). But that doesn't mean I'm going to go put her out in the field where she's interested for about 3 minutes and then FORCE her to stay out on the field when she doesn't want to.

Agreed. You'll eventually meet them, regardless.
I just think this is more about the parents at this point than it is the kids.

Prom I agree with your post about kids attention span at a young age. I coached all my kids tball teams and I enjoyed the hell out it. Not saying all was fun I can't tell you how many times I had to from kids to get up or quit drawing on the dirt on the infield. Only time I benched a kid was when I had to tell him to get up in right field like 20 times.
My kids(17,15,13) to this day still talk about their Teeball days when I was coaching o yeah I did a little yelling back in the day. Now I go to their sporting events sit and enjoy the hell out of them.

maybe, but as long as the kids enjoy it, i see no problem with it. Certainly not enough to attack the op for letting his girl play in it.

That's the issue. They're enjoying it for about 3 minutes.

I intend to see if my girl enjoys playing at 5. That's the normal age they start playing and around the age I started playing. If she doesn't like it, then her mother can take her to dance or gymnastics or something.
As far as my son, I intend to wait until he's 5 as well. I'll teach him at home before I get him into a structured league.

He doesn't have to. If he says she's concentrating the whole time for more than 10 minutes, I don't believe him. If that's the case, his daughter must have Manning genes.

My daughter is playing her first year of t ball. It is basically a parent's league, it's like 4&U and my daughter is less than a month away from being 3.
This is stupid. Nothing more than a social thing for parents.

figuring if nothing else, she will be outside playing,
Take her to play outside yourself...To the park. Let her feed the ducks.
Six is plenty early to start, especially for a girl.
Oh....You MUST buy her a bat. $250 minimum!

To each their own. There is definitely a distinct line between people who aren't worried about the lack of an attention span in their 3 year old, and those who are worried about having 1 hour of a day wasted because, "How dare I waste my time so my kid can just kick some dirt?"
I don't understand it, but it's not worth trying to force my beliefs off on y'all. This was never the point of the thread anyway.
