My parents didn't have this conversation with me, but I certainly had it with my two.

Same here. I've told mine that if you're getting pulled over, have your license ready to hand to the officer and be respectful.

I've gotten off a few times for minor stuff like failing to signal a lane change late at night. Trooper pulled me over. As I was walking towards him I made sure to keep my hands out in the open. Handed him my ID. He asked me if I knew why he pulled me over. I responded no sir, I don't. Asked me where I lived, where I was coming from/ going to. Told me to make sure I use my signal next time. I thanked him and we our separate ways. He was professional about it and I owned my mistake.

Never had a police talk. Just don’t frick up.

Grandfather told me to trust and not be afraid of them. 4th grade and the police came by the house looking for my friend.
