Once the warranty was up I installed the Range technologies AFM disabler with no issues. Its runs on 8 cylinders all the time now.

You can plug that in while it's under warranty. Just unplug it when you take the truck in for oil changes and what not.

It doesn't reprogram anything. It just sends a signal to the engine that the hood was opened, which for some reason tells the engine to not run on 4 cylinders.

I watched a sedan going about 90 mph plow into a Silverado sitting next to me at a one night. The Silverado got pushed across the intersection and a cooler in the back flew out, but the truck damage was minimal and the occupants were fine.

It’s probably the viral tornado video of the year. On Monday, as vicious storms tore through Texas, a twister near Austin flipped the red pickup truck driven by a Texas teen on its side. The raging winds then spun the truck 360 degrees before flipping it back onto its four wheels. The driver, 16-year-old Riley Leon, managed to drive away with only minor injuries.

While the truck fully functioned after the traumatic encounter, Leon told local media that his family’s Chevrolet Silverado was totaled. Now Chevrolet is giving Leon a new 2022 Silverado, free of charge.

“Chevrolet, together with Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet of Fort Worth, TX, are donating a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT All Star Edition in Cherry Red to Riley Leon and his family after he survived a powerful tornado while driving in his Silverado,” Chevrolet posted to Facebook Thursday. “We are thankful Riley is safe, commend his driving skills during a frightening situation, and our hearts are with other families in Texas that have been affected by these storms.”

Video of Silverado flipped by Tornado and drove away

Impressive. Surprised Chevrolet didn't buy that truck and the video for extensive advertising.

Parking a full sized truck on any major college campus except maybe A&M is kind of a bitch.

Xmsn is shite, the once bullet proof 5.3 liter is shite if you don’t delete the arm/dfm.

I've put about 200,000 miles on one without deleting it. And that was the first generation. No issues on that truck other than light bulbs, brake pads, tires, and oil/transmission fluid changes.

Second gen I used Range AFM bypass, which keeps the hardware but just never lets the truck go into V4 mode. That also lasted a long time but no idea if that was because of the RANGE thing.

I have 150K miles on a 2017 Sierra Denali. I have had zero issues with the truck. GM did recall and flushed the transmission when it had about 50k miles, maybe 2019. It is a great looking truck. Gave it to my son. Drive a 2023 now.

I have a 2019 Sierra with the 5.3 V8 and 8 speed transmission (new body style). It's been an incredible truck and extremely reliable. I can manage 25MPG on the highway with it and just go 11MPG towing my 6500lb boat.

People really over blow the trans issues, they've resolved them and it's been a silky smooth transmission for me.

I had a 4x4 z71 with the 5.3. It was the slowest slug of a vehicle I ever owned. It had no power and would barely pull an empty utility trailer. Additionally the seats weee the most uncomfortable seats I ever had. I could never get them adjusted to where it felt normal to drive. I drive it for 4 years and dumped it when the prices were any high. Unless something changes, I’m done with gm products if horsepower has anything to do with it. Mine was an uncomfortable slug.

Great truck! My current one is a 2018 6.2L LTZ that runs like it stole something and get about ~21mpg on the hwy and 16 in the city. Even ordered a F250 which never was built and glad that it happened that way.
