quote:EE. I work with other EE's, physicists, mechanical and optical engineers in embedded, engineered systems for space, aviation and defense. But I represent my employer's products for those systems, with a team of engineers behind me that I filter projects to based on their competencies.
Is this an actual thing? Or are you just a salesman and the cool new thing to do is just add engineering to every title?

I am a sales engineer. I do not do sales, I support sales people. My salespeople do all of the heavy lifting of the relationship building and maintaining, and I step in for the technical discussions with technical teams of potential sales. I'm at an ISP, so I engineer voice, video, internet, p2p connectivity, multipoint, VPNs, etc etc. and disseminate the information to our support teams so they know what to do.
In my previous companies, this role sounds a lot like an Applications Engineer.

In the tech industry, it's very common.
Normally you have a 2 person sales team comprised of a Salesperson and an Engineer.
The sales guy shakes their hands and kisses the babies, the Engineer tells him how to do it.

This had to be quite rare with Obama. If you didn’t go, you would be accused of being racist.
I’m smelling a false equivalency.
Nonetheless - links?
