I would guess an exact date would be May 11th. Monday.

there is not even a plan in place to "open things up" - what does that even mean going fwd?

only allow ppl with antibody immunity back to work?

test all people before and after entering crowds or restaurants or employment?

im still thinking July-august, opening it any sooner and we face the same problem in the fall.

In Louisville, KY we just started Non-Traditional Instruction this week (closed on March 13th) and it was a huge undertaking to do so. They're not going to open school back up when they can finish the year online.

Right. I'm fully aware that school isn't coming back this year. That wasn't my point.

My point was what does schools not reopening have to do with businesses reopening?

You open that late, you still face problems in the fall.

There is nothing to say that we don’t see it in the fall no matter what.

And you also have economic destruction and UE off the charts.

There is no way the global economy would survive.

That is a full half year of economic shutdown.

That would be insane.

Yes there it. There is a "roadmap" already out there.

They are already loosening restrictions on people that tested positive to go back to work.

We are going to have a spike again this fall whether we open things back up right now or wait till July. It's inevitable.

i do agree, so under this logic, we should have never shut down in the first place

It was never to prevent future spikes.

It was only to buy time for hospitals and resource allocation.

Continuing the shutdown to prevent future spikes was never its intended purpose.

Bottom line earliest for anyone is June 1 and that’s probably being optimistic . If the flattening of the curve happens it’s bc of social distancing and people staying home more.
The schools dont close for this school year and then the govt says everyone go back to work so we can have a second wave, when the first wave is just starting to come down

true, i get the whole "raising the bar" idea and i agree with it.

I'm def down for an earlier opening, it just doesn't seem viable at this point

So you're telling me that states would like the shutdown to last longer because it's good for them?

I can't agree with that.

Every single day that this keeps going, is a complete waste of everyone's time.

But this grind of trying to work all day with a wife and three kids is dragging. There’s the bonus of some lunchtime sex if the baby is napping but the downside is a mid morning poop diaper change.
.

shite, I'll trade diaper changing for sex any day of the week. Hell there's been times where I'd eat a loaded diaper for sex.

based on what? your on pessimism?

quote:

again, like Scruffy said, this shut down was only to slow the initial spike in order to get a better understanding of treatment and allocate resources

if we were worried about the future spikes, which will happen, we would be shut down till a vaccine
