You got a fast leak or the head pressure is too high from restricted air flow across the coils.

Clean the coils inside the air handler in the attic and the outside unit as well.

See what happens. Report back.

Youtube is your friend.

And change the filter, ya filthy bastard.

Freon leak, dirty filters, blocked ducts.

Turn the AC thermostat to OFF and turn fan to ON. Let run 24 hours to thaw out the unit and let it dry out the water. Then turn it back on and see if it freezes up again.*

*I am not a HVAC guy but one was at my place Friday and told me this.

The outdoor unit does not freeze. This is the condenser coil that is expelling removed heat. The expansion or cooling coil in inside somewhere at the fan location. This is usually a sign of low freon. Low freon is sign of a leak.

You missed an important step. Whenever you put the fan on make sure the outside unit shuts off or you will really cause a lot of damage. Might have to flip the breaker. And I wouldn’t keep the fan on for 24 hrs. 3-4 hrs should thaw it out

Could be one of several items

1. Low of refrigerant
2. Extremely impacted air filter
3. Indoor blower motor is not running
4. Clogged condensate drain causing the coil to freeze
5. The coil was still iced up Friday and the service tech did not thaw it completely before randomly adding refrigerant.

How much freon did he add to your unit ? If more then 2-3 lbs and its freezing up already you have a large leak. How old is your unit ? another thing to check is for a stuck contact breaker. When its stuck the unit outside will continue to run after the blower in attic cycles off,you can just walk outside and and look when the blower shuts off in house,if it's still running that's usually the prob.It happens often in older units.

You can run the heater and it will quicken the time to thaw the coil.

Sounds like a bad leak, Dirty evaporator coil, or a restriction in the Freon lines. Usual spots of restrictions or in the filter drier or expansion valve on the evaporator coil.
