What sort of grades do you need to get out of state tuition waived at LSU? I know that they got rid of the waiver for the children of alumni several years back. Any other tricks?

We tried to get a waiver for my son. Hr graduated with high honors and got a academics and athletics scholarship from MGCCC. He graduated with honors from MGCCC and LSU still wouldn’t waive out of state tuition. He is kw at USM on a academic scholarship

Good luck to you

Find you a friend or relative that lives in state a year or so before your kid goes to college. Have them put a utility bill in his name. Offer to pay like 20 bucks a month toward the bill or some shite.

Use said bills to prove “in state” residence. Get in state tuition.

I utilized the academic common market. I majored in landscape architecture. Tennessee's system didn't offer that. The only grade requirement was not failing out.

Is that the threshold, or is that just what you had? Would something lower work?

That is what my son is doing. No school in Alabama offers Petro engineering (what he started) or now in Biological engineering

Thanks for the link. I will bookmark it. Looks like children of alumni get a 10% reduction.

Does this work? My parents own a condo behind Louis so we could use this. Would he have to do a skip year since he’d be obviously in high school in Texas the year leading up to college

My cousin is at LSU paying in state tuition. He’s lived in Mississippi his whole life. They used their extra place in Louisiana for him to get in state. And no he didn’t have to skip a year. Just gotta have al the stuff for a year before he sends his app in

And did he have to skip a year? How’d they not know he graduated from high school in LA? Thus couldn’t have been there a year

It is where the parents live, not where he went to high school, my ex- wife lived in a different state than me when my kids went to college, they could have gone to school in my state or her state and paid in-state tuition.

Just contact a member of the BOS and offer them a few bucks for a scholarship.
