Restoration hardware crib and dresser are being delivered today. Should I tip these dudes for assembling the crib? The delivery fee was not exactly cheap. I always hear stories that sound like putting cribs together can be a shite show.

Nb4 congrats on the sex.

What say you: Tip or no tip?

Tip if you feel like they were nice and did a good job.
Why does everyone need the OT to tell you when is a good time to tip?

Tip if they assemble on site.

Don't tip if already assembled when it arrives

Offer water either way

Try to be a better parent than yours were to you, teach your baby how to use a wrench and assemble it themselves

Ask them if they would like a Coke and Smile. If they say, yes, give them a Coke. If not, well... you tried.

I figured I would crowdsource a few random individuals to see what they said. I think no tip after a $200 delivery fee. My wife says we should.

Someone tipped me $10 on a $90 job. I explained I pocket all the money anyway, but he was happy.

I only tip jobs that expect it, but if you think service warrants, then tip.

I like to think I'm better off than my parents were at my age, and I can pay people to do these things while I enjoy my Saturday. Good try, tho...

The fee is only $200?

This is one of the rare times when you shouldn’t ignore the wife.

Is that a low delivery fee or considering the assembly too?

Considering the assembly too I think so. I may be wrong but I don’t think they get a piece of the fee.

As do I. If I took a job delivering and assembling furniture, I wouldn't take it with the assumption I'd be earning tips.

Then again, I've seen people tip the most random jobs. People regularly tip tellers at the bank. That's mind blowing to me.

This is the way I am. It's nice that these people pound their chest and brag that they can do things themselves, but my time is important to me. If I can pay someone to fix/assemble/change oil, then I'm free to do things that I enjoy more.

Are you serious? I've never seen that. Then again it's been a long time since I've been in a bank.

I could see the old people with money that still go in to do things and like the conversation maybe wanting to leave a tip, but other than that, it seems strange.

You couldn’t transport a fricking crib on your own? What, do you have a smart car?

I get that mindset. For me I like to do a lot myself so if it messes up the buck stops with me.

Sounds urban chic. Does the smell of hobo urine and feces come free with purchase.
