Yeah, and the sarcophagus they originally built to contain the radiation was pretty shite, and a new one was built on top of it. The new one started in 2010 and is near completion. It's a multi-billion dollar project and is meant to contain the radiation for at least 100 years.

I find radiation fascinating.

According to Nautilus, exposure to the Elephant’s Foot can cause a series of strange and horrifying ailments. For example, 30 seconds of exposure can cause dizziness and fatigue up to a week later. At two minutes of exposure, your cells start to hemorrhage, and by five minutes your lifespan shrinks to about two days, making the Elephant’s Foot one of the deadliest waste products on Earth.

I think there's some molten shite under Fukushima that's fresher. Maybe worse?
Probably some horrible shite tucked away in caves in northern Russia from back in their nuclear proliferation days as well.

I'd love to go there on a tour. I remember watching a documentary on it in the 80/90s about how they played music over loud speakers because it was so quiet. Nothing living for miles.

I still remember seeing pics of the glowing graphite from the core on 60 min.
And then there's the elephant foot.
I read a book about Chernobyl and it reference a guy that got a nuclear tan laying on the roof of his house.
He didn't live very long.

So in that pic of the elephant's foot, we have a guy standing only a few feet away. Based on the information I'm seeing here about how deadly that is, I assume he dead?
