Seiko
If it’s just a temporary place holder I’d get something like this. Mine keeps perfect time and don’t have to baby it.

For an easy sale of your 16610 to a business you could look to be offered $6500+ depending on links, true condition etc. Private party you might get 8. But then you have the possibilities of headaches, danger of meeting a stranger for act of sale etc. Also, how do you value your time with the BS of getting to the point of sale through private party.

Ideal sale time of this unit was ~ 9-18 months ago.

Got appraisal at Zadocs last year ($10,800).

Interested in moving on to something new/fun. What’s your advice on easiest and most secure path to flipping it?

The safest and best return would be to find a brick and mortar dealer and trade toward something. You can pick those up for 8-8.5K all day, so don't expect to get anywhere near what your appraisal is for or even the amount they are generally selling for. The market is very soft right now, not at panic stage, but very soft.

The 16610 is a great watch to wear, the problem is that it is pretty much of no particular interest to most collectors, especially if you have a luminova dial and not a tritium one that has a nice creamy patina lume. I own one and love it, though mine is an early example "L" serial number (late 1988, early 1989 prod), holes case, Tritium dial with a rich, creamy patina, still worth much more for me to keep than sell, and I will as it was my first nice watch.

I agree with above poster on how much to expect, but beware of selling online even through TRF (Rolexforums.com) or something like Moda Watch under 10K trading group, you are going to be besieged by scammers and will have to be careful. Now is a pretty darn good time to buy low, but if you are selling or trading, you will take a hit.

Good luck, and I'm interested to hear what you end up dong.

Never heard of them and am now intrigued. I dig that Autobahn.

I suspect availability may be a challenge

Nomos has built a pretty extensive dealer network over the last 10 years or so. If I am not mistaken Adlers is a dealer if you are in SELA.

The safest and best return...

I agree with everything you said.

Online peer to peer has gotten more difficult due to the huge increase of scammers.

Selling to online businesses like DavidSW and Delray watch is possible but they tend to be on the low end of fair but it may be worth the trouble to try them.

If you plan to buy from a brick and mortar once you sell the watch working out a trade can sometimes be best for both sides but work it like a car deal, know what they are giving you in credit and what they are selling the watch to you for just like knowing the amount you are getting for your trade and the amount you are paying for the new car.

As mentioned has been some softening in the market so it might strengthen the advantage of a trade at a dealer online or brick and mortar because they aren't putting more money into inventory.

Seiko makes some great watches. I wear the SEIKO PROSPEX – “Save The Ocean” Samurai Blue Whale Edition SRPC93K1 as my everyday watch with a nato band and couldn’t be happier:

Great advice. Appreciate it.

Looks like it’ll get the service it needs (puke and why I prefer Omega), and I’ll keep it as the wife wears it sometimes.
Gonna offload hers because she never wears it (hell, it’ll pay for service and maybe a lower end fun piece).
