A lot of Polk listed...would be interesting to find out if any of us were in the same unit at the same time.

I was at the Hospital from 08-12 and worked with the 115th Field Hospital quite a bit. After I retired, I stayed there for a year and work with the Reserve CSH for JRTC.

Pope Afb/Fort Bragg, NC
Hickam AFB, Honolulu, HI
Langley AFB, VA

Hawaii obviously, but because of the massive pay difference being mil to mil out there.

We were at right around 140k together as E5 E6 early in our careers.

I was Army, also 1992-2012

31K/31U/25U

Basic at Ft Jackson
AIT at Ft Gordon
Ft Hood, TX
Ft Wainwright, AK
Ft Sill, OK
Ft Wainwright, AK
Ft Gordon, GA
Baton Rouge, LA (Recruiting 4 years)
Ft Polk, LA

Alaska the 2nd time was my favorite assignment. Recruiting was my least favorite assignment, I liked being close to home in BR though.

I went to Thailand for Cobra Gold in 94, we had a good time for the 2 days we were allowed to go to Bangkok. Also did 30 days in Guam, that was a really good time.

I was at Polk from April 2010 until I retired in February of 2012, but deployed to Afghanistan from October 2010 to October 2011.

I was in 94th BSB, 4th BDE/10th Mountain. Had an easy deployment with a Support Bn.

I came home from active duty in 1992 and joined the Alabama Army Guard's 2/152 Armor just in time to go to their AT at Ft. Polk that summer. I think it was August that we went down there. At that time 2/152 was the armor "round-out" battalion for the 5th Mech. Infantry Div. I was thinking the active duty armor BN that we trained alongside was 3/60 Armor.

I remember having an instructor at Ft. Knox who use to tell us wild stories about his time in Korea back in the late 70's and early 80's. One particular story involved him going to a Korean whorehouse and employing the services of a young lady suspended from the ceiling in some sort of rotating basket.

He also claimed to have a "mama-san" who he'd go shack up with when he was off duty. He said she wanted him to marry her and bring her back home to the "Big PX" so she let him do anything he wanted. He claimed he could bring another girl over there, instruct his girl to sit in the living room and polish his boots while he was busy. And she would do it while he took the other girl into her room and in her bed and fricked her brains out. When he was done and the other girl left, his girl would prepare him a bath and start cooking dinner for him. Course when his time in Korea was up he left her behind.

If you know me you know that the Marine Corps frowns upon my drinking habit.

Enough so that I earned a stint in New Orleans for 28 days

Enlisted 81-88
Fort Benning, GA
Fort Myer, VA

Officer 91-present
Fort Sam Houston, TX

Fort Lee, VA
Fort Drum, NY (were you in 10th Mountain?)
Fort Sam Houston, TX
Fort Bragg, NC
Dallas, TX
Fort Bragg, NC
Carlisle Barracks, PA
Fort Bragg, NC

Next stop - JBSA, TX (the old Fort Sam Houston)

Everyone of them was an assignment (as career military you learn to not put too much sentimentality into a place). But Fayetteville, NC is now "home" as far as the family is concerned.
