OT Science Baws— Viral Load

So it seems to me that limiting exposure helps us even if we get the virus. If we get a very small amount, our body has more time to ramp up a defense than if we intake larger amounts of virus in multiple contacts.
If that is true, social distancing should help make the eventual infection less severe, right?

Viral load is how much virus is in your own body when infected, not how many viruses it takes to infect.

This is my understanding FWIW. But, my background isn’t science.

Ok. But doesn’t time matter? A small dose should be easier to fend off than a huge dose all at once, right?

Viral load—It’s like sperm—you’re either pregnant (infected) or your not. Doesn’t matter if the guy fricking your wife has a low sperm count.

Viral load is why some health care providers esp Resp Techs and Docs have gotten this and died relatively quickly. (Italy). You get a big snootfull of this from an infected patient and it overwhelms the defenses very quickly. Well know viral phenomenon.
