:slight brag:

I have some images on display/for sale at St Roch Market. Someone has contacted me, asking me if I would be interested in selling the image(s) to them, so they print and sell them themselves.

I have no idea what the offer will be, nor do I know what some thing like this is worth.

Anyone here every sell the rights to an image?

I've been paid a few dollars for a couple images that were used in local magazines, but I kept the right to the image and they couldn't use it other than in the rag.

You should license your pictures based on sliding scale.

For example, if they say they anticipate they will have gross revenues of $1000 you charge them 15%. But, if they anticipate gross revenues of $100,000 you lower your fee to say 2%, becuase nobody is going to pay you $15,000 to license your picture.

GF is a photographer, these are her words.

Terrible idea. They'd likely make you forfeit your rights so you can't even sell the image in the future.

You need to strike a deal with the buyer to make this happen. Or seek royalties, 10-15% per image, forever.

You NEVER want to forfeit your rights to an image.

Collect royalties on them. 7-10% per photo they sell. This is after you sell them the rights to said photo.

Realize that the new trend is for them to steal them then rely on you to sue them.

They know it really isn't worth your time so they will likely get away with it.

Just offering info.

He posted them for free on TD (food board), so technically he has little rights to them at this point.

Talk to an intellectual property attorney to draft you a licensing agreement that you can use now and inn the future. Spend a bit now to protect your rights in you pictures.

lazlohollyfeld22@gmail.com if you need a recommendation for IP attorney in NO.

Here is what the email reads, so I'm not sure if they want to print and sell or just print one, but they use the word "them"

quote:

I was wondering if those are your images in the St. Roch market? An art consulting agency that I work for is interested in potentially using those images for a client. We would pay you a small one time use royalty fee and have them printed and framed on our own.

It may just be they want to print them one time for a client.

Yep, one time. I've done several of those in the past.

So I guess I will just charge what I charge for a large print, $229. IDK.
