So is alcohol for HS senior

Not necessarily. In many states underage consumption on private property is okay (mostly with parental consent, sometimes without).

I think he added it after your post. It's in my garage when I return early from a trip.

Regardless, I would prefer alcohol.

If your child is a senior in HS and doesn't drink you raised a fricking nerd. If that would be a big deal to you lol.

Gotcha. Didn't know that.

Mainly just playing devil's advocate because I knew the majority of people were going to say drinking.

As long as they don't drive I could really care less .

Making that shite taboo will only hinder them once they get to college.

the kid is in the garage or basement with a few friends stoned or drunk.

thanks

in this situation, all things equal, I'd be less pissed about the weed

although I'd be pissed about both if she did it behind my back

hopefully by the time my daughter is in HS weed will be legal

And? In like 24 states it is legal to possess marijuana with a MMC. And there are many places where minor possession of MJ is a misdemeanor ticket

Having two kids in high school, the proliferation of pot in the public high schools is complete. It is easier to get than alcohol.

Both are chemicals that effect brain chemistry and can have adverse effects on developing kids. I'd rather my kids didn't do either of them, but I'm not naive enough to think that they won't. If I had to pick, I think it'd be pot, but in moderation.

This is the key, either way. I'm kinda on the fence except for the fact that you can do a lot more harm to yourself or others while drunk.

eta: what if you lived where marijuana is legal?

Both should be legal after 18.

With that said I would be more pissed at the weed than alcohol only because the penalties for one are much greater than the other.

In truthfulness I plan to bring my children as often as possible out of the country to get them used to drinking responsibly. It's a pity the current system doesn't allow this.

And in will fly the marijuana buzzards who have nothing better to do than swoop around all day and bite at people who don't like weed.

I have no children that I am aware of, but in the distant future if I end up reproducing I would far and away rather catch my hypothetical spawn stealing beers from the fridge. There will be no weed in my house, not because I give a shite about what grown adults like to do in their spare time but because I think it's nasty.

in TX your underage kid can have an alcoholic drink served to him/her at a restaurant as long as the parent doesn't leave him/her unattended
