I agree with you OP but only somewhat.
99% of aftermarket rims look stupid.
There are a few that look better than the stock ones.

Depends on the car/truck and the brand of aftermarket wheels.
HRE, ADV.1, Vorsteiner, Vossen, BBS, Volk, 1552 are all high quality companies and look great on luxury and sports cars.
The aftermarket rims you see on 90% of vehicles are terrible and the owner should have left the oem’s on.

The idea of a grown arse man going in to a rim shop, selecting a new set of rims for his vehicle because he thinks they look cool or better than OEM, and paying thousands of dollars for that is an affront to the idea of masculinity and maturity.
