I agree. Battery is either not holding a charge or being drained while engine not running.

Intermittent charging?
I'd guess the battery is the issue though. I'd get it tested, and, if they say it's good, I'd give her about 15 hours of trickle charge and see what happens.

It could be. 13.8 is pretty normal. It may have bad brushes and only be producing 2 amps at 14 volts.
Firestone is going to rape OP's wallet. Their fix is going to be a $200 battery, a $300 alternator, and 4 hours @ $120 per hour to change them. With tax, their estimate is going to be about $350 x 3.

I'm not going to let them fix it if it comes back at that cost

So, 9 people tell you that everybody and their momma tests these items for free, and you find the only place in the world that charges?
What's that old saying about fools and their money?
I canceled the test and I'm taking it to AutoZone tonight

What does this mean

Disconnect your battery. Use a terminal cleaner or sandpaper and clean the terminals and connectors. Then charge with a trickle charger for 24 hrs if possible. A trickle charge is slower but much better than a quick charge (1 to 2 hrs).
You could also use a battery from another vehicle if you have access to one.
Also would be great to clean the connectors to starter and alternator.

This may be the root of the problem. You may have an ignition that is failing.
Some cars you can't remove the key if the battery is dead.

Ah! This is true.

greatly depends on the vehicle. I've seen ones where it was so hidden it was nearly impossible for someone who didn't know what they were doing. I had an old Jeep and it was out in the open with one bolt and 2 screws holding it together and took 15 minutes to change.

Just a shot in the dark but it sounds like a voltage regulator issue FWIW

Go and get your battery changed....now. If you ignore it, one day your vehicle won't start and you won't be able to jump it.

OP: check your connections first. Could be this simple. It would explain the intermittent issues.

A battery is cheap. Just get a new one for $150 and you don't even have to lift a finger as they will install it for you.
But I would for sure get a diagnostic first just in case there are other underlying issues.

FWIW, my truck had similar symptoms and it was the cam shaft sensor and crankshaft sensor. The fixed the terminal connections on battery, etc and it still giving me problems, but once they changed out the sensors it stopped.

Thank you. I hate seeing people waste their money unnecessarily.
A trickle charge is simply charging the battery at lower voltages. It just gives a battery a better and deeper charge than fast charging it.
Autozone will have a tool that will put a load on your battery and/or your alternator. It is not 100% accurate, but their tests are pretty reliable.
Like many have said, I'd guess that you'll need a battery.
Good luck, baw.
