Follow up, anyone got a good mechanic in the Dallas area?

Not sure where you are but Pitcock Automotive in Richardson is solid.

Why do posters on here talk about catalytic converters so much?

Also, it’s a 5 minute job and the mechanic was gonna charge like $350.

I would bet 02 sensor over a cat. Usually a fuel problem leads to the cat getting plugged, like a bad injector. Tuna tank of premium through it, see if that clears out the code

Run Chevron with Techron and never have a bad injector or a bad sensor...

(Agree with your assessment)

I have had this issue on my truck. I am going to give changing the O2 sensors a try. I have been driving it for months and have not noticed a real decrease in gas mileage.

If it is the o2 sensor that's bad and you run it too long that way it'll kill the cat due to running it too long in a rich condition.

Thanks. The truck is not an everyday driver, it is used sparingly. Will get on changing the o2 sensors.

ETA: Looks like bank 1 is the issue, would you recommend changing all 4 or just the bad one?

Just the single one. No need to do all 4.

I still suggest running a catalytic converter/O2 sensor cleaner through the system. It might just be real dirty.

Even if it needs replacing, you are only helping yourself by burning off the old deposits in the system. It won’t hurt, and it might actually fix the problem.

I just ordered the cleaner you recommended. Hopefully that does take care of it.

Couldnt it be a coil pack or spark plug then? The O2 sensor is telling you that it’s running rich/lean. I’m not a mechanic but had this happen on my dads truck and it was a coil pack. Purchased a good code reader and we found which cylinder/coil pack was as the culprit. Fixed and all good.
Also had this happen on my son’s car and it was a loose spark plug. Which in turn also ruined the coil pack.

Clean the sensor in front of the catalytic converter. Take it out spray it with a mass air flow cleaner or carb cleaner or hell just replace it you will be good to go
