Try one of the glass shops. They can change them and you can usually find them on e-bay for around $100.

nope, they didn't all fail at the same time, not unless you had an electrical problem that would likely have blown a number of other electronics in the car.
one possibility is that that the solenoid in one lock shorted and blew the fuse that the lock circuit is on, but anyway..
go elsewhere

crazy thing is.....when you google this problem, it seems that it is very common. I've been driving cars with power locks all my life and i've never come across it or heard of it happening to all of them before.

Manufacturers are demanding cheaper and cheaper parts from their suppliers.

If it is an internal module, wouldn't it throw a code. Can he take it to Autozone and see if there are some electircal codes showing up. I had a Honda throw electrical codes but I had to trace it to the actual problem. I would buy one and test it before I changed all four. Also, it seems that this really would be a control problem. If he can pull one of the plugs he can tell if it isn't getting voltage. I would test the back of the control panel 1st. Very strange for all four at once.

Yes, I would check the central switch first. It would be easy to put a meter on the plug to see if he's getting DC, I agree.

not that uncommon, first car i had w/ power locks, T-bird, had a door lock solenoid go out, like I said, one might have taken the other down, but theres a much better chance it would have blown a fuse first.
don't overthink this, if you aren't qualified to fix it, shop it to another, more reputable mechanic.

funny thing is, I'm old enough to remember when "Made in Japan" was garbage, (except for the Deep Purple album) and then "made in Japan" became synonymous with quality, largely thanks to Edwards Demmings, fukking Hitachi used to make the most bullet proof car air conditioners ever built. and now everything once done well in Japan is shite from the rest of the pac-rim.

This...most actuators are relatively cheap online and there are thousands of videos out there on how to change them out. Find one on your particular car to see how much of a pain it is, get the part and change it yourself.

Not the same viehicle, but I had a Chevy K1500 that did that. The plug on the back of the switch was loose. I pressed it back into the socket and it worked fine.
My brothers Tundra had a film (or maybe corrosion) on the plug harness. Cleaned it off and it worked fine.
Might check those two things before ordering parts etc. Youtube probably had a video of how to remove the door panel without messing anything up.

I went to buy a cordles Hitachi driver/drill set thinking I was getting Jap quality, then realized..
"Made in China".. fukk........

Even if you aren't mechanically savvy, changing actuators is only slightly more difficult than changing the car battery. Find the parts on ebay and give it a go.

yea getting the door apart is probably the hard part..
