the Bar is harder now than it was back when we took it. Thank Gawd. Gotta keep some of these noobs out.

I'm in school right now at a school comparable to LSU. Full tuition with a 2.5 stipulation. I had a 3.5GPA and 159 LSAT.

Dude I got a 5k scholly with a 155 and a 3.1 in political science at LSU. I'm also white.

T14 or bust. If you're staying in state I hear LSU is the logical choice. Don't go to law school if you're not T14. Even up here in the stratosphere the job market isn't that great. This is coming from a 3.78 Columbia 1L if that means anything.

Hmm. Are you lying? You should be sitting pretty unless you're a complete f'up. And believe me, I've even seen some Harvard law grads who were compete f'ups. They must have blown their wads on the LSAT, because they sure as hell had problems functioning in an office environment.

I work with a few Harvard and Duke alums. They are all pretty sharp.
I went to a crappy law school and a decent school for my LLM in tax. I have a decent job right now. I am currently interviewing for a very nice in house job. Sometimes carving out a niche and a little bit of luck can dull the stain of a crappy law school.

Oh, they were certainly the exception, not the rule.

Where did you go to law school
Posted on 2/5/15 at 4:20 pm to SabiDojo
I've worked with Harvard, Yale, Chicago, and Stanford grads. All very sharp. All very practical.
Worst lawyer I ever saw was Tulane, but I consider him very much the exception for that school. Best I could tell, he had some big time family connections.

First let me ask you this, why are you going into law?
Posted on 2/5/15 at 4:23 pm to Mo Jeaux
Na I've got a job the summer in DC doing M&A work, but I didn't exactly have recruiters fighting over me.
Edit: Deleted the firm name. I know how you guys operate

Widener, shitty school, but very good health law program at the time I was there. The health law program was the main draw for me.

There is a huge pay gap between graduates of top 15 (ish) law schools and others. If you can't get into a good law school, I'd suggest finding a new field unless you've got connections.
ETA: Don't just look at the graduation employment rate. Look at the amount of graduates in "JD requiring" jobs.
This should help
