Many of the major consulting firms have gone on a major sales bonanza without having the staff to fill the rules they have sold.
Companies who were cash strapped during Covid are now opening up their wallets, so all of the sales hounds are jumping all over this without considering whether or not they have people to actually perform the jobs being sold.

I guess I had a misunderstanding of what “unemployed” meant until you said this. I thought it was simply a measure of the people who were not working, but it’s actually people who are not working AND are actively looking for a job? Gotcha. Not sure how I made it this far without realizing that distinction

Of course I don’t actually mean Joe Biden’s burning the midnight oil and personally shaving names from the rolls. The Biden administration was the intended reference.

Unemployment number only counts those looking for a job. There are a ton of people not looking.

Do these types of jobs typically offer access to benefits? I imagine it'd be rough making minimum wage and no medical insurance. Or if you have group medical how much it would cost. That's just medical. There's other ancillary costs for people that would take a while to add it all up.

What part don't you understand? Low unemployment means not many people are looking for work. Businesses are understaffed because there are not enough people looking for work. What doesn't make sense?

That’s how unemployment works.
High unemployment = more labor supply (workers) than demand (jobs).
Low unemployment = more labor demand (jobs) than supply (workers).
You generally expect to see more jobs hiring when unemployment is low. If you think about it, high unemployment wouldn’t stay high very long if everyone was hiring.
I know people are arguing about the definition of “unemployment” (e.g. whether we count people who aren’t looking for work) but that’s kind of missing the point of measuring unemployment, which is to understand the relationship between labor supply and labor demand.
ETA: If you start counting people who aren’t looking for work as “unemployed,” you end up painting a picture that supports progressive spending policies like expanded unemployment benefits, safety net spending, stimulus, etc. despite being counterproductive in the current job market.
