OT Doctors/whoever takes blood pressure meds(UPDATE)

STarted off on Atenolol ( for BP and also migraine prophylaxis) .... but yes OP.. it gave me erection issues and talk about humiliation trying to frick college girls with a limp dick....... sooo frick that... told my GP I can't deal with that anymore to switch me to something else.

now I'm on lisinipril 10 twice a day and it works..

but yes it's a big puzzle to get your BP under control... trial and error... it takes time but they'll get you at goal eventually.

On a serious note, it'll probably just take a different drug to get yours down... there are some many different ones, shouldn't be too much trouble to find one (or a combo of them) that works.

I'm on 10mg ziac and 40 mg telmisartan, both have a little diuretic in them. Works well for me.

Ziac is a beta blocker, telmisartan is a angiotensin receptor blocker...

Lowering your blood pressure isn't going to make your pecker limp... the opposite is often true.

Lisinopril is a good medication. 10mg is just the initial dose your doctor attempted. He may just increase the dose.

I started with lisinopril worked ok for me, then switched to norvasc 10mg. worked much better. Side effects negligible. changing my diet some and increasing cardio helped equally as much as meds....

Few things besides what everyone else said:
1) Take some steps to clean up your diet. Reduce your salt intake and change the types and amounts of carbohydrates you're eating. Small steps.
2) If stress is a factor, try taking L-Theanine. It's the stuff in green tea that calms folks down. Available OTC, about $10 for 90 days.
3) B12 and CoQ10. Get on it.

Be really really cautious about telling your Dr. to change your meds. Dad developed big problems with liver and kidneys due to Dr.'s changing meds too much. Those BP meds and then the meds to counter the side effects are pretty strong.

In Dad's case it was partly due to having so many Dr.'s due to moving around the nation for his job. Just about the time Tampa Dr. got his meds right we moved to NO and Dr. there, being a godlike being as they all are, decided to try a different regimen. Then the move to Memphis, then the move to Tulsa,... Also Dad went through the massive pharma pushes of the 70's and 80's where the reps were convincing Dr.'s to swap products all the time. "Hey Doc, new product that if you prescribe x times we'll send your family to Tahiti all expenses paid!" and 6 months or less later Tahiti is now Bermuda for pushing another product, followed in a few months by another destination bribe/payoff. And yeah, that kinda stuff was routine back then, now illegal for pharma corps to do it.

Best advice on BP control, stability. Find a good Dr., stay with that Dr.. Do not jump too soon from a med regimen to another. Find something that works and stick with it.

I am taking 25mg of hydrochlorothiazide

it seems to be working when I remember to take it. for me been on it a year. Makes me pee non stop during the day which kinda sucks. I only check it every so often maybe once a month. If it shows high I will check it more often.
