What do you mean by that? Are you an outerwear fashionista?

Arcteryx,

Arc'teryx may be quality outerwear, but I don't like their lack of style. Their jackets and coats are pretty much one style.

So far I'm pretty meh on this brand.

Barbour for hipsters. It's a Barbour knock off...but it still looks okay.

Your years are waaaay off. I graduated college in 2007. The North Face had the go to FAF jacket for the try hards the entire time I was in college.

Anecdotally my gf at the time refered to her jacket as her North Face.

This was the moment that it started to become the Christmas wish list item for poors. It was North Face's peak.

Now North Face will pretty much become Old Navy.

Nah, it's just one of the few things I like to shop for, so I have accumulated tons of shite over the years.

In my defense I do use most of it on outdoor pursuits, but I have something of a problem, admittedly.

It's true. Arcteryx has some stuff you can use for lounging around and making runs to a bar, but not a lot. But, I will say it looks good on most people because the cuts are so well done and it holds up well (looks very high quality). But yeah they haven't really gotten into the Patagonia realm of designing products to be used casually and outdoors.

I purchase a couple of new jackets and coats every year. I totally understand your "problem". I, too, am addicted to outwear.

You should see my closet.

When I was in school (mid/late 2000s) it was already sort of out of style. Patagonia and Marmot were definitely more trendy, though TNF was more common, mostly because of Denali fleeces.

In probably 2004, one trendsetting dude in my fraternity had a pretty good looking jacket with a weird name and a dead bird on it, and I thought it was absurd he'd buy a 500 dollar jacket from a Canadian company we'd never heard of.
