Wasn't that Demi Moore?
Little know fact is that after the trial and before the contempt hearing, Kaffee began to identify as Joanne. The Navy asked, he told, and he was dishonorably discharged before Judge Alexander could hear the matter.

Fake news. Tom Cruise is in the closet. And he won't come out of the closet.

No, and he was the only cast member that benefitted from the results of the trial. They should have just taken the plea fifteen minutes into the movie and saved everyone two hours.

Wasn’t that the entire point of her character? I’m confused why this is even in question?
It seems a lot of you are missing the point of LT. Galloway's as a character.
She was the exact opposite of Caffey, and meant to be his foil, in a way to. She was strict by the book, unimaginative, and would do anything to get her client the best outcome, including taking 13 weeks to try a drunk and disorderly. Caffee played by loose rules, a bit lazy, but was brilliant and undisciplined and would plead anything to not go to trial. Her contribution was to keep him in line and convince him to do the right thing.
