Dryer is only heating intermittently. Every thing else works fine.

Is this a heating element issue or a fuse issue?

TIA

I would think that if a fuse is bad, it won't be intermittent. It will be never.

My thoughts as well but don't want to have to go to the appliance supply store twice. Hoping Napoleaon chimes in before I head to the store.

sorry just saw this.

There is a thermal fuse, which pops when the output is too high, there is also a "thermal cut-off" that is a thermal fuse but it is on the input side. Below that there is always a bimetal thermostat. These can stick and cause it not to heat as long as it should. I would change the bi-metal, and the output thermostat. If you have a gas dryer than it could be the above issue or it could be sticking gas coils. Basically on a electric dryer with this problem you check the bimetals first, on a gas you check the coils first.

I'm certainly no appliance or handy man expert (I just posted help yesterday to install a light switch) but I did dabble in my own dryer's repair wit a few months back due to a similar issue. I ended up replacing both the fuse and the timer and mine has been good ever since.
