Yes they are basically a division of Rolex - I just wear my Tudor instead of my Rolex.

Does a movement overall get certified or is it individual instance of that movement?

If a watch is listed as COSC certified the individual movement was certified to be at a maximum -4/+6 seconds over a 24 hour period. Most new Rolexes are much more accurate than that.

I think I am probably out of the watch market until May (then I decide on Omega or Tudor level)

Might grab sub $1,000 Auto from Hamilton or Longies if I see that suits my fancy.

Also will mointor how pissy wife is lol

If you're interested in the Rolex GMT Master, check out the new Tudor GMT (in-house COSC movement for less than half the price of the Rolex GMT Master). Tudor has been a really "hot" brand as of late, and has put out some good looking, quality watches in the past 5 years or so.

I don't understand the functionality of watches in today's world. For fashion reason I can see... but it would be like a suit that's worn rarely for occasions, IMO.

They are both black dial, black bezel diving watches. The markers are completely different, the hand sets are completely different, the cases are different, the bracelets are different, the date window is different (even on the Submariner date), etc...

I mean, I guess if you know absolutely nothing about watches, they look the same.

Oh this is a niche-interest elitist thing. Gotcha. Carry on, they look totally different

I know that sounded like a dick comment, and it was. But, it was also truthful. A random person on the street that has seen a submariner a handful of times may think that all black dial, black bezel diving watches look like a Submariner, but anyone who pays attention to watches can see the differences pretty easily. Even from a distance it should be easy to tell that the CW doesn't have dot indices (markers).

ETA: what you're saying would be like me looking at a Ford F-150 and saying "it looks like a GMC Sierra". I mean they are both trucks and can come in the same color
