We are in the process of booking everything. We are staying off property but the whole Disney experience is crazy. Granted this is our only trip for Disney and we are doing VIP at both Disney and universal.

Don't tell the OT what you're paying. They'll lose their shite.

A coworker’s 15yo son discovered who he was while meeting the Disney princesses. Can you put a price on that?

Why would you splurge on this and then stay off property? Are you splitting with others?

the best Disney experiences I've heard of come from people I work with who had summer jobs there as kids

Yea, the math doesn't really make sense on that one.

Not splitting. The hotel bill would have been over $12k for the week. We stay at Lakeshore reserve which is tied to the JW Marriott and ritz. We get a two bedroom condo with full kitchen. Access to two lazy rivers, water slides, nightly activities and great restaurants for $2,200. It’s a 15 minute uber to the transportation hub.

We live comfortably, but far from wealthy, and just got back from Disney. Pricey, but I’ve spent more on a Cabo or Bahamas trip.

The memories are worth every penny it if you have young children.

I took my family of five this year. I'm not wealthy, so I dispute the OPs title, but I do agree it's expensive as frick. Most people are probably putting it on the credit card and ultimately paying double for it. It cost my family of five about 4-5 grand and we drove.

My impression was that the costs are certainly keeping out certain demographics, whether that is intentional or not. Vast majority was white Americans and Europeans of various shades.

Took the kids there when they were young. We went to Magic Kingdom for a day last year and will probably do it again in a couple of weeks. I didn't think it was that bad, but we do get the military price on tickets.
