I agree. There comes a point when even your presence is illegal. Once innocent lives are taken, the protest is over. If I were a protester, I would leave as soon as it got to that point.

One guy complained that he couldn't find a cab or uber so he was stuck around the area.
Doesn't really explain why he didn't get farther away, but at least some number of folks are geographically isolated and apparently think the police barricades are as safe as walking home.

Southbound Interstate 45 toward the hood was jammed up on Google maps for a good while after this started (I looked out of curiosity).
