I’m assuming that all the other parishes that voted for increases didn’t vote to increase their property taxes by 25% either. Because that’s what would’ve happened here if that vote went through.

I think you articulated it well. Not sure why you only got down votes. From government sponsored health, violence, to failing schools, it can all be traced back to the root cause at the cultural level. To truly enact change, it needs to be improved there. Unfortunately, not enough time and effort is spent there since it is much easier to continue handing out stuff and doing nothing to change the unsustainable pattern.
