I lift, BJJ and have great cardio.

I'll wrap you in a pretzel until you name all of the original 151.

Seems like lots of people in this thread trying to turn their kids into themselves. Your children are growing up in an era very much unlike yours.

Are you sure you’re preparing them by creating some kind of 90’s time paradox? When they leave your nostalgia dungeon they’ll have to operate under vastly different conditions.

Hearing one kid quote the goofy movie while the other is munching on a carrot going “ehhh what’s up doc” brings me so much joy

It shouldn't. Limiting your kids' exposure so that they will only like what you like is freaking creepy.

I refuse to be one of those parents who tosses their kid an ipad or gameboy so that they don't have to interact with their child. Screen time will be extremely limited when young.

Remember the Pokémon Go app 10 years ago and all the idiots who chased invisible whatever they’re called to catch them all? I think people found dead bodies and the phase caused an increase in auto accidents.
Have a work colleague (50+ y/o man who otherwise loves hunting and farming) who still does this all day.

My grandkids still don’t go to daycare. Three days a week they go to a Mother’s Day out program at our local church. It’s only 9-2.
Umm...that's daycare.

I don’t ski and I don’t envision myself paying for my kids to go skiing

Sucks for them

I don’t know if it’s normal now or not but I was driving past Denham Springs high school recently and saw a young lady walking. I wish I were making this next part up…but she was in a school uniform with a furry, poofy tail and, what appeared to be, fox ears.

If that is what’s cool now, my kids will be very unpopular.

They should learn how to be comfortable alone with their own thoughts though. I think the concern is having kids feel the panic of sitting with their own thoughts and feeling the need to instantly distract themselves.

People in general have this problem. That's why focus and attention spans are dying.

He has a switch, and his favorite person, his aunt, is a gamer.

Sitting in front of a switch on the tv playing with friends is no different than us sitting in front of a Nintendo or PlayStation 30ish years ago.

It’s when they carry that shite around all day with their nose in it that I think the issues start.

For me it’s them having smart phones until mid to late high school. My oldest is about to be 13 and he got a “dumb”phone to call us after activities or from friends.

Just way too much in the way of research showing how bad it is for the developing brain.

My son is 20 and is a gamer and is now making 50-60k a month as a game developer and doing what he loves to do. It doesn’t always turn out bad if you let them play games.
