She was married to Jim Stafford at one time. I'll bet he shook it at her, and said "this frog's for you".

This is wierd. Just today we were out for a ride a we passed the spot where I first heard that song and mentioned it to my wife.
At the time I listened to a radio talk show on the way to work. Host’s name was ?? Black. He spent about ten minutes talking about this new song and how great it was. He usually didn’t spend time on music so I thought it was awfully strange so much so that I paid close attention to the song.
This was the song.
