You probably missed where I own a F150, so I don't think they are bad vehicles. If I had wanted to spend about 5K more, I would have gotten the Tundra because of reliability, but I do think that Ford makes a good truck overall and if taken care of will last.
Before my last truck got taken out by a drunk driver, I had a 2002 Silverado. In the 14 years I owned it, I probably spent $1K in mechanic repairs. I don't consider that too bad.
You seem to be the one with blinders on. If someone likes Toyota you seem to think they are a homer.

Trying to figure out what I can expect to pay for Lariat, 4x4, 20" wheels, twin panel sunroof, navigation is not a must.
Lariat 4x4 will be between $42-44, some of those extras push you to maybe $46. Sticker will be around $56-58.

I didn't. It was your second choice but the Tundra was supposedly $5k more.

False.

No, when someone claims Toyota is the best with nothing to back it up, or claims "seat of the pants" with nor reasonable evidence, I call out bullshite. Because it is in fact bullshite.

I paid $37.5K for my XLT and the comparably equipped Tundra was about $43. I'm mentioned that before, so I don't know what you point is with that comment.
I drove a Chevy and Ram too before I purchased. I like the Chevy as well, but it somehow felt "bigger" to me driving, and the new hood on the 2016 models seems to stick out further in front than other trucks, and I didn't like that.
I wanted to check out Ram and drove one, it felt rough driving, more so than the others.

Appreciate the feedback. Exactly what I was looking for.

You must not have tried to get a good deal on the Tundra. You can get a Crew Max 4x4 in Limited trim for under $45k. I refuse you couldn't do much better on an SR5. Turns out, you can, There are many for sale advertised under $39k.
ETA: People sure do love to downvote actual facts in this thread.

I was perusing the F150 towing chart... it's nuts. You can configure an F150 now that'll tow a 11,400 5th wheel! That is amazing. For comaprison, look up what gasser 3/4 tons used to be rated for 15 years ago.

A comparably equipped Limited would have been $46+ and the F150 was $37.5K. That's enough of a spread, I didn't want to spend.

I'm confused as to what you're trying to say here. You bought an XLT did you not? The Tundra Limited is step up form that. To me it looks like you're trying to make the Toyota seem much more expensive, when in reality that's just not the case.

It's kind of crazy how it's getting these days. Ram 1500 will tow 11,000 lbs as well with the HEMI V8 and the aggressive rear end.
You can actually get a Silverado half ton that tows 12,000 lbs with 6.2L engine, 11,200 lbs for the 5.3L. At that point GVWR is approaching 18,000 lbs...which is insane for a half ton pickup truck. They actually use the same heavy 9.76-inch rear axle that they used to use in the HD trucks.
LINK
I'd honestly never do that regularly in a half ton truck. I'd recommend that anyone who makes a habit out of towing 4 or more tons to get a 3/4 ton truck with the heavier axles and engine braking if you live in in a hilly area.
20 years ago, half ton trucks were more or less offered the size and capacity of the current Chevy Colorado. They also ran right around $25,000.

I think I'm done in this thread. I tried to provide information to the questions asked. You seem to only want to be argumentative. You are allowed to be a homer for whom you want, I don't care.
I used your trim levels from your response to me.
For the last time. I bought a F150 for $37.5K. A comparably equipped Tundra SR5 was $43K at my local dealer. They would only come off the price $500, and I had bought my last 3 cars and SUV's from this same salesman. They don't have the large discounts like the domestic manufacturers.
A Limited Tundra would be on the low end $46K locally. I could have gotten a Lariat for about $42-43K, but I didn't want to spend the additional $5K for either a SR5 or Lariat.
It can be a moving range, but when I researched comparably equipped trucks, the Tundra was most expensive by $3-5K, then the Ford, then the Chevy and Rams were about $1K below the Ford.

Comparable Tundra would be the SR5 model, which are actually pretty affordable. MSRP for the bigger crew cab model SR5 is between $37,000 and $42,000. Realistically that's a $34K-$35K truck after incentives before you add the bigger V8 and 4x4. The SR would be the lower end model similar to the XL Ford.
Limited is the higher end version, more similar to the "Lariat" edition Ford.
Actually when looking at Edmunds and other sites, the Tundra is a pretty affordable truck after incentives if you can live with the oldest, least competitive design on the market now.

Just trying to keep your story straight.

Well just because you can't hunt down a good deal doesn't make your numbers right. You may as well just compare MSRP to MSRP. You're making the Tundra seem more expensive than it can actually be bought for.

I explained it to you multiple times. Sorry, but I'm not going thru it again.
You are just trying to somehow make up an argument that doesn't exist.

Is is getting crazy. How available are those GM 11,200 & 12,000 towers? I did some research just now on the Ford Heavy Duty Trailer PKG and in supercrew there's a 10-12 week backup and they have to be ordered - none on dealer lots. Some guys ordered them in 2015 and had to wait until now for Ford to actually start making them. So they're somewhat of a unicorn. I am a nerd for this stuff.

I have a 2013 ecoboost rated for 11,200 lbs
I've only pulled my camper a few times but it's close to 10k when loaded. Pulling it feels way better than stopping it. It's amazing what that little V6 can do with ease

I was watching the Ike Guntlet video where they had a Limited (which has a much lower trailer rating) with a 3.5 towing a 10k trailer up the pass and they had trouble staying below 70 until it got to the really steep part, when it did 62.

I'm just telling you your numbers are a bit disingenuous. You could have had that Tundra you wanted if you put some effort into it.

He also supposedly got an amazing deal on his truck. Went over the numbers in an OB thread and it was something like 25% off MSRP.
Compared to other people saying they got 10-15% off.
