When would you guys say we'll start seeing the drop really pick up steam or will it pretty much stay at this pace?

I can tell you guys Brown & Root should start setting up pumps on the road tomorrow. I just got a list of materials they are going to need and they want it delivered tomorrow.

So do we think that they start pumping before they cut the road?
Posted on 8/19/16 at 4:16 pm to tigersofbr24
If they smart they don't cut that road (but that's just me talking).
If the water is lower on Manchac than it is in the swamp I don't see why they can't start pumping. From what they were saying about cutting the road they had to wait for Manchac to go down 2' to make the cut and that could take days before it gets that low.

Best I understand the pumps would take a week or so to pump the water down enough. They are gonna cut the levee to get that water out quicker. They have a alot of ran in the forecast and and we ended up sandbaging today and put some pumps in just in case the rain wants to be a dick again.

Why? Are they thinking oak alley is 100% in the clear? Seems ballsy.

Have you noticed any water drop where you are? Had about 2" to spare this morning on the house I was checking on for family not far from the first curve on the right.
Trying to not go back this afternoon but really want to know if they are still dry.

I wonder if they're going to try to pump Manchac in some way to get it down to a level where they can start draining the bayou. Manchac is still a foot higher than the bayou so will need to drop 3 feet before they'd be able to make the cut.

As soon as manchac is a little bit below the road they can start pumping. Those pumps won't put manchac back up over the road.
Once manchac gets below the level in bluff swamp, they can cut the road.

I'm just worried that when they cut it, it won't get fixed for a while, which would leave us really vulnerable to more events like this.
In terms of getting the water down quickly, cut the damn thing so I can get back to my house that's on an island.

I definitely don't think it's the best thing to do, but I won't argue it.
I want this shite to get pumped into the river damnit

I have a feeling when they cut the road they are going to lose it. Then it's going to leave the swamp vulnerable right at the hot time of hurricane season. I'm sure they could come back with some of the super sacks and sheet piles till they can put the levee/road back.
Posted on 8/19/16 at 5:38 pm to lsujunky
What size and type of pumps are they using?
Posted on 8/19/16 at 5:38 pm to FoTigerapher
I think they're 46" but I'm not 100% sure
Posted on 8/19/16 at 5:48 pm to DownshiftAndFloorIt
Latest report from ridge: no measurable change.
Posted on 8/19/16 at 5:52 pm to FoTigerapher
Not sure, we are just supplying rigging and other items.

I was thinking the same thing. Month after month, after month, of the Parish saying, "Well, yeah, we're planning on rebuilding it soon, but (insert excuse here)..."
