Don’t skimp on the set-up. Go with quality regulators and a good CO2 system.
Nothing trashy about it. If you are going with 2 taps get a refrigerator that can fit slim barrels (1/4 barrels) and not stubbies.

How long will a 1/4 keg last before it goes bad once tapped (assuming power stays on, keg stays cold, correct pressure, etc).

I’m somewhere between OT baller and OT Walmart trashy and I have one with 4 taps. It’s great for parties and get togethers.

Kept at proper temperature, and not wavering pressure, you can have a keg for up to 60 days.
Bottled beer last longer because it’s pasteurized. Keg beer is not.
ETA: keeping the lines clean is vital to taste. Most people think that the beer is bad but they don’t take the time to clean the system weekly or after use.
