Ole Miss has a great MRS degree program. A dad can be reasonably sure his hot daughter will marry a guy that can keep up with her tastes.
Texas, UGA and UF are somewhat tough to get into. Lots of rich folks from Dallas and Atlanta send their stupid kids to Ole Miss. Its easy to get into. There is a rich people scene that you don't find at Georgia Southern or Texas Tech (the schools their kids can get into) and out of state tuition isn't bad for the MS schools. Its really a good fit for a lot of students that want that scene.

Glad I’m not the only one in this thread who’s dating myself by admitting that i’ve always liked that song too.
But I’ve always thought it was strange that the chick in the song wound up in Baltimore after graduating Ole Miss.. they usually seems to land in Dallas, or NOLA.. maybe Atlanta.. maybe Baltimore had a hotter job market in the 70s? Just things i ponder when that song pops up on the rotation...

Dude in my fraternity was accepted at UNC and turned it down in favor of Ole Miss (which kind of blew my mind because Chapel Hill ain't bad either).
There are also all of the people who have careers already lined up as soon as they graduate through family businesses and it wouldn't matter where they went or what they studied. Just chose Ole Miss because Oxford is such a kick arse town.

My sister told me that waiver didn't exist when she graduated high school (2012).
