I have an aunt who can't understand the concept of email being stored on a remote server. She thinks the only copy is on her computer.
She is obsessed with getting hacked, even though the only thing she knows how to do is hit "the blue E" which I've set to take her directly into her email as her home page.
She asked me three times in a row whether sending an email was "safe" and I finally told her, nobody's reading your email, they'd have to be sitting outside in a black van picking on her directly. Some shite like that.
I bet the poor lady didn't sleep for three days. I'll burn in hell for that one.

It's one thing for a 70+ year old, but what floors me is when someone in their 50s can't operate a computer...and manage to run a business. I mean, they were fairly young during the rise of household computers and the Internet
I'm 54. When I graduated from college, absolutely no one I knew had a computer. Hell, we were celebrating the birth of the compact disc.

And I'd be waiting in the parking lot to beat your young pussy arse down...just like the iPad worshipping pussy that you are.

We have this one guy named Dick (Richard) who is 80 years old and refuses to retire. He's an SAP programmer who is an absolute fricking wizard. Makes everyone else looks like illiterate fricks. Boggles my mind every time I see him. He's too old to know as much computer shite as he does. It's just weird.
It has less to do with age and more to do with a person interest in learning new things. MY go-to guy for computer issues I can't solve is almost 80. I never considered him unique, I know a ton of people over 60 and most used PCs in their work for the last 30 years.

Wow 54! I'm 38 and never had to use a computer. I can easily see how a 54 year old would have little computer knowledge.

It's not older people and it's unfair to generalize. The people who developed all the technology that began to make computer use common are elderly now. A great many elderly people enjoy using technology. It always tickles me to come in contact with a guy over 60 who's preferred method of communication is texting.
Anyone over the age of about 40 had to make an effort to educate themselves because we did not grow up using technology. It's a pretty strong indicator that a person in this group is willing to take personal responsibility or else has relevant work experience if the computer skills are sharp.
That said, it really ticks me off when a person younger than 35 acts as though it's too hard to utilize a computer. How the hell does a high school, and certainly a college, graduate leaving school within the past fifteen years possess less than average computer skills?

What I find worse is someone that finds it too hard to function without technology, primarily the smartphone.
They're supposed to augment our brain power, not substitute for it. That seems lost on some people.
