This thread is making me sad and flashing back to my childhood dog. She did this all the damn time. God I miss her.

I was actually going to say this. My GSD/Lab mix will not leave my side for anything when I'm sick.

My border collie only showed any herding instinct once, when he was playing with kids at the barn and they scattered. he was a follow around lap dog otherwise

I got her at 6 weeks old and was running a horse ranch at the time and as she got to be about a year old I had hell keeping her from constantly trying to put all the damn horses into one bunch

Mine was a rescue and grown when I got him. Took him to the barn all the time. He had zero interest in the horses

Long life for a lab. I had a dachshund exhibit similar behavior in later years. Probably some discomfort. Probably worth a vet visit. Sounds like you're a good owner.

My wife's dog will stay in bed with her on her bad days (she has parkinsons) all day and will not get up to eat or anything..

My yellow lab follows both my son and myself. He lays on my feet when I am using the toilet. My lab is very protective of my son and doesn't like me going in my sons room.

Thanks. She goes every 6 months for a check and gets yearly blood work. I watch her like a hawk for problems.

This reminds me of some pets my family had back in the 90s.

We were at our friend Kate's ranch out west. My mom married the man who would be my stepfather so we took a road trip to San Francisco after the wedding.

We weren't supposed to be gone long, but our 3 animals (a golden, an American bulldog, and our Himalayan cat) decided to abandon the ranch and look for us.

Wouldn't you know it after some time, they had crossed the vast wilderness on foot and found us while in San Francisco. They must have thought we abandoned them lol. Anyway, Chance had a frick ton of porcupine wounds on his snout and Shadow had some muscle pain resulting from an unfortunate fall in a hole in a train yard. Sassy was perfectly groomed and no worse for wear. That bitch.

I know, right? The part about shadow telling the owner about when and where it fell is the truly amazing part.
