My guess is some sort of welding/cutting hot work going on and they had an accident
Boat crew, operators, hot work guys could easily be 7 guys on site
We once had a chevron platform burn to the water line because slag from hot work fell into a plastic bucket on the deck below us and caught on fire

Always. Take care of your maintenance, inspections, testing and you minimize your risks. Always the chance for human/operator error though. Thats where you need your safety systems.

Good possibility. We have pipeline that ties into the Williams plant that had the explosion a while back. I think 4 died from an accidental release during hot work.

Looks like a small toadstool with a water knockout, a line heater and some produced water tanks. Pipeline riser coming into separation equipment and departing pipeline going to the beach. Small building is probably the shop/electronics building. Facility is probably unmanned and they were doing some kind of maintenance and blew something up

Yea first thing I noticed was a treater, a few seperators and risers. Probably a few well heads in the area tie in here. Couldnt tell if one of the tanks was for potable water.

Doubtful it is manned; too small and too close to shore. Probably maintained by an operator on a boat
No wellhead deck so it is just a production header and some water knockout equipment with tanks for produced water storage.
Probably has some small gas wells that flow to it and this is a gathering platform for the departing pipeline to the beach.

Not familiar with small stuff, but don't see any risers. That looks like a glycol contactor and some offloading equipment. You think they are making condensate?

I think those are mostly oil wells, not gas.

Anyone hear if there was any spillage into the lake of any hydrocarbons and/or chemicals? At least of any significance. I fully expect that this wouldn't affect anything, but I've got a triathlon next weekend that swims in the lake. Been training for 5 months, and it would suck if they had to cancel for something like this. I definitely don't expect it being in the industry and knowing the type of facility. But who knows.
