I have a friend that claims middle school is the last form of pure sport. Maybe he’s right.

That’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about paying players to switch schools just like they do in college. It’s portrayed as sponsorship but will no doubt become a way to cheat.

why shouldnt a William Schmidt be able to accept gloves from Mariucci for doing a couple social media post? or if you want to go currently....why should Jordan Griffin be able to do a deal with rawlings like he currently has? why shouldnt he be able to get bats and gloves for doing their commercials?

Bc you’re a child who knows nothing of the real world and will open yourself up to being taken advantage of.

Children are not mature enough to handle that type of fame and fortune. Look at Hollywood kids. Hell, even a majority of pro athletes can’t even handle it and they’re full grown adults. What do you think a bunch of 16year olds are going to do?

no that is what we are talking about

there are still no transfer rules in place unless its a legit move and then nothing can stop it

this rule is legit about sponsorship deals

just because your mind went right to how college is....that is not what discussing here

its about the ability of high school athletes to receive any form of nil. in HS 99% of Nil deals will be sponsorships of some type. Similar to how livy dunne made her money in nil

i gave 2 examples right now with Jordan Griffin having a deal with rawlings and luccini to apear in online ads for them. in turn he gets free gear

there are plenty in youth baseball like that with rawlings, easton(owned by them), Louisville slugger all having deals with kids to swing their bats, tag them in social post and make videos

that all goes away if NIL is not legal.

so if you are the HS RB in say... Basille that is committed to LSU....and you want to get a sponsorship with DI's and want to make a post about you going to eat at DIs every day after practice to fuel up and they want to give you free food for that....well that would go away

and right now LHSAA allows NIL deals and has for couple years now....should that go away? are schools paying tens of thousands for kids?

absolutely not.

umm they already have social media dumbass and already have tons of followers

this is the dumbest fricking arguement i have ever heard. this isnt hollywood where the parents are sending them to live out there and dropping kids off to parties with adults....this is a kid making an AI cut from a video his mom videos from a game to promote a brand.

how out of touch are you? you understand this is all done in about 2 min using apps on the phone right?

but "we must protect the kids" "they cant handle making money or getting free stuff"

dumbest shite i have ever heard.

at least have a decent argument from this century

as far as what they are going to do....they are going to get free baseball bats, free basketball shoes, free gloves, free football gloves and cleats and maybe a few extra meals for free

are you under the impression they are going to be flying to hollywood to create nationally syndicated commercials :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

lol relax dude you’re taking this way to personal.

Im never going to be in favor of paying people who haven’t earned it. If you’re ok with that then that’s cool.

And look how terrible that’s been for people’s mental health esp kids. Suicide rates are up, depression up. That shite is straight poison for kids. Don’t act like having that in their lives is a plus.

Just a matter of time bro. Every bleeding heart person just wanted college athletes to be able to capitalize on their name. It opened the lid on the shite show we have now in colleges. It has ruined college sports and has ruined a lot of kids. Same will happen to high schools. Maybe not as widespread as college but certainly for your big time talents and big programs. It’s also just a back door way for colleges to start paying/recruiting these guys to come to their school. That’s already happening in LA

It is now changing mating patterns. Date small, marry tall (and fast). Kidding (ish).

The ultra focus on sports is the root issue. The NIL, transfer portal, etc is the accelerant of the idiocy.

I have a son who plays college football. Front row seat.

My 3 year old daughter is pretty good at Magnatiles. Wonder if we can get an NIL deal for that.

earned? who gets to decide if its earned? you or the market?

so a kid who has a huge audience and legit can help a company promote a product shouldnt be able to?

so livy dunne shouldnt have be able to make money off her following?

It kinda is. How do you think kids are getting huge audiences? You’re saying you don’t like the repercussions of social media but this will be very similar imo.

It ought to apply to peewee sports. If a person has a talent that someone else is willing to pay them to perform, short of killing someone or sexually assaulting a minor, there should be no limit to what one person can pay another person to do....

You know that’s not what it’s going to be.
It’s just going to be another way for kids to whore themselves out on the internet. Ban social media and then I’d prob support this idea.
