You can apply online, but if you do a bit of research you can figure out one of the local offices and go there and talk to someone there. It can be a plus if they can relate to you.

I have been apply some online, the problem is I really didn't know what to apply for. I was filling out applications for roustabouts, but so few job postings for those jobs. I just figured they were hiring young guys that walk in the office rather than posting a job opening.

start with Halliburton, baker Hughes, weatherford and maybe Schlumberger. Check out local service companies as well.

Measurement While Drilling - they run the tool that are directly behind the drill bit. They measure direction your drilling and other vital info.

Pretty easy job -- hardest part would be rigging up data lines from the shack with computers and whatnot to the rig floor, and when the tools fail. Then it's all your fault

Most of it arse time decoding data & making sure the tools are running smooth. I know a few company man will be very skeptical about directional drillers who didn't drill before hand, hence mentioning MWD as an entry level job

MWD - entry level, won't start off as a directional driller - Gyrodata, Scientific, MultiShot, Baker, Sperry (Halliburton)

But you can work into a DD then into the office. Time frame depends on the company.

The main reason is I'm about to have a big break (starting on the 13th) to finish paperwork back in the states for my work visa. Otherwise I live in Kuwait so I get random days off depending on the work load over here.

Danos always has open positions. With a college degree, you don't need to start as a roustabout

There are other fields. I am a CM in the Telecom/Tower Industry. 15 years and I don't remember ever being "slow".
