So I am in the place of lots of middle aged people. I have my own public affairs/public relations firm, but I hate my job and clients. I wanna change.

So about 4-5 years ago I started to look around for work that would fit my money and schedule needs. I landed on offshore work. I'm still there, but now I am ready to make the jump.

Question, how do I go about making the jump without any experience? I don't give a damn about doing shite work. Thats fine. I just don't know where to look.

What companies are hiring?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Check with personnel groups based in oil cities.

Petroleum coordinators

I'm drawing a blank on other companies like that. The tend to be easier to get in with compared to the Bakers and Halliburtons.

You want to go from being your own boss to being a fricking floor hand on a offshore drilling rig?

What kinds of positions do you plan on applying for? Any kind of related experience?

I'm confused. What are you trying to do offshore? Be a roughneck?

Yes. I hate my clients. I hate my job. I hate dealing with payroll, tax forms, employee, keeping my clients, getting new clients and the basic daily grind.

You'd probably start from scratch then, if you knew someone they could get you a field engineer position with a service company.
