So wait, this woman just sat next to the dude as he got popped 7 frickin times and then calmly starts making a video. She was either high as hell or it wasn't her first experience with a shootout.
Considering she was arrested a few months later for assaulting someone with a hammer...

Police have reportedly issued verbal warnings to clear I94 (according to WCCO)

The girlfriend's video doesn't show us anything that proves the officer acted unlawfully.

Actually. The dead guy had his pistol out and stuck between his leg and the seat. Which the officer could see and why he kept telling him not to move. But Philando just kept saying "I am getting my license" and reaching towards the gun. This was reported locally but was absolutely ignored by national media. The jury heard it though and found the officer innocent. Go figure.
Not surprising this fact wasn't reported nationally. That's kind of an important detail you would think

Dude. You are holding onto shite way too tight. Losen the frick up. The fact you even mentioned Hitler says so much about you. Following the law doesn't equate to Hilter you stupid frick.
Nobody is equating you to Hitler.
But how do you think Hitler gained so much power? Do you think overnight the citizens of Germany began being cool with the practices of the SS and turning their Jewish neighbors in?
I'm sorry you can't handle a simple allegory. Truth hurts. Seems like you need to "losen" up.

If that's what happened then I think the defense attorney probably had it right. Philando was probably too stoned to cooperate.

. But any citizen without a badge would at the very least being heading to jail for manslaughter in this situation
Ehhhh...this is a hard argument to make because citizens don't have the same authority and responsibility as cops. Citizens don't make traffic stops and command people to show ID when a gun is present. I agree with most of what you said, but your comparison does not seem relevant. I agree that cops shouldn't be sheltered from penalties for acting careless and be privileged to answering to the law.

a lot of the protesters seem to have said they've had enough and have moved off to the side
still a few dozen dimwits blocking the interstate
ETA: Some sitting/kneeling... so you know they WANT to be arrested

How do you know this? Is it possible to say I'm reaching for my wallet and then quickly pull the gun and shoot the officer.
Is that a reasonable possibility?
Is a possibility, sure.
But no, it's not reasonable that an employee of the school district with zero criminal history or reason to be worried about a traffic stop to shoot a police officer.
quote:
Because he was a burglary suspect and it was a felony stop.....officer should have instructed him to get out and walk back to him (In my opinion)
Nah man, he actually wasn't.
He was a black dude driving in a white area. The car did not match the description and his neither did his female passenger (or their baby for Christ sake)
The official reason they pulled him over was for a "cracked taillight". But the officer in question had already radioed out the real reason was to check their IDs because Castile had a "wide-set" nose like a robbery suspect.... come on, you have to admit that is incredibly racist.
And police in that area already had a history of essentially harassing him by pulling him over for literally anything. Castile had been pulled over 49 times in 13 years. Almost always for minor mundane things that other people could go years without getting pulled over for.

A juror speaks
quote:
Finally, Ploussard believes Castile only meant to show the officer his gun and the permit to carry.
“He had no intention to shoot the officer – not at all,” Ploussard said.
It was a terrible and fatal action that no verdict could ever change.
Ploussard says once they fully understood the legal meaning of “culpable negligence,” all jurors came to the conclusion that any other reasonable officer would have responded the same way.

That is not how it works.
The standard is....is it reasonable for the officer to believe the suspect was reaching for the gun.
Even if the officer was wrong......if its was reasonable to perceive it.....it is justified.
In the end, we don't have all the information unless you sat and watched the whole trial. Therefore, it is wrong to pass judgement on the officer with only a small amount of information and facts mixed with opinions, biases, and assumptions.
Until we are presented with all the facts.....we only have the jurors decision.
