You should be good as long as you work with adults who have a sense of humor.
That was sort of my line of thinking. To me, it was hilarious.

Plus:

Depends on your relationship with the receptionist and her personality. It's a little bit smart arse, but that sort of thing could be cool with y'all. I say some playfully smart arse things to some of my closer co-workers, and they dish it back. It brings levity to the work place.
That's basically how it is, and I'm pretty much the resident smartass. But it's almost always in a playful way and people take it as such.

Nah, she's not. At all really.
You may think that, just be careful. Women in a the work place will turn on you faster than a pit bull in a loving household.

Sounds fine to me although I always try to avoid using the "Reply to all" for email.
I sent it as an office-wide thing. I wasn't trying to talk shite about her behind her back or anything like that...just was being stupid playing off of her horribly-grammaticized email.

Do the other women in your office generally have a good sense of humor?
Pretty much, yeah. And it's not that they didn't think it was kinda funny; they just also thought it could've been kinda mean.

because the two women that commented wanted to believe that you were making fun of her and trying to embarrass her
the receptionist probably didnt even catch it.

I've seen that happen here actually. One girl that used to be the receptionist (she now is in a different job here) filed a sexual harassment complaint against a dude that used to work here. He was sort of the office clown/smartass (though he didn't always know/care if he was stepping over lines), but she would always wear shirts that had her bra hanging out and one day he said something like "Wore the black one today, huh?" and she sort of laughed at him and shrugged it off. I was standing right there when it happened. And then like a week later, he got called down to HR.
He shouldn't have said it, but she shouldn't have been wearing it either. And she knew there wasn't anything sexual about it IMO. It was sort of bullshite (though he definitely should've not said anything).

I was talking to a couple of coworkers a little later and they (both female..no pics) told me it was sort of mean.
It depends on your intent (making a joke vs. making fun of someone you see as inferior), and how well you know the person. I think the *rimshot and her replying with lol puts you in the clear.

I mean, I guess in a way I kinda was. But in good fun as opposed to a "Hahaa, you're stupid" kinda of way. I wouldn't be intentionally mean to someone in my office like that.

I specifically put the *rimshot in the email to portray that I was being stupid.
Note: I actually typed colons around rimshot, but on here, that translates into an emoticon. :rimshot:

BTW, that was a lame arse pun so it was probably a courtesy lol and she actually feels sorry for you rather than insulted by you.

but women are bitches and it makes them feel better about themselves if they believe you made the joke to really be mean and embarrass her even though you were just being silly.

Damn, that sucks.. Especially if she's the kind that likes to encourage it and then uses the poor pitiful victim card later.. That's why it's always been hard for me to warm up to new co-workers.

(honestly asking)
I was kidding, more in reference to the reply all part.
Your joke in particular...nah you're good. I mean, I don't know all the people involved but if it was me personally I probably wouldn't have sent it, just because of the off chance it's taken wrong. And before I got to the bottom with the *rimshot* comment I was like "man that's kinda rude". But as long as she lol'd you're good.
Now..as for the reply all, I'm against it unless it is necessary for business and involves all parties. Sending jokes back and forth and replying all is a big no-no IMO.

Hey, dickhead...it was supposed to be lame/stupid. That was the whole point.
