feel the same way about the PMAC.

The PMAC, and also the Superdome, BTW are already much older than some of these stadiums that are being replaced. We've discussed in several threads that the PMAC just doesn't have the footprint to become anything. The only feasible thing is to build a new one or piecemeal it and put the same amount of money into it to make it just okay. They've put so much money into the Superdome since Katrina that it's practically a new building. The issue with the Superdome is that it's in the perfect location.

It was still in use when I was there in '87.

1987 was 37 years ago.

I was there in 1995 and it appeared to not be in any use other than tours.

Even today, it is still used as a prestigious venue for many shows: historic events, concerts, corridas and ‘courses camarguaises’.

Metallica filmed one of their concerts at this old Nimes stadium about 10-12 years ago.

It would cost a shite ton to do the upgrades, to the point I’m not sure it’s cost effective

They are adding radiant heat for all the fans as well as adding a cover that gives overhead protection to 65% of the seats

I would imagine that alone would cost a shite a shite ton of money to do to an established stadium to the point why not just build new

Also it was built in 1973 so I’m sure there are some legit issues down the road. That’s an old stadium

But I agree I wish the cities would tell the owners to frick off with paying for it

How ? More luxury suites ?
It’s not like every ticket is sold out until? Build a new stadium and more people will want to come? They have sold out for a while.
Ask the titans what happens when you build a billion dollar stadium with less than 20k season ticket holders.

These are the same stadium. Almost any stadium/team could do this.

They just don't want to.

To add radiant heating though wouldn’t you have to tear up everything at the existing stadium anyway?

The cities and their residents benefit in orders of magnitudes from these stadiums. One weekend of TSwift concerts brings in $10s of millions of economic stimulus
