Ok, so I have a pair of Oakleys that a ex-girlfriend bought for me a few years back. Never had much luck with expensive sunglasses due to losing them or sitting on them or something, but I've managed to hold on to these for a few years. The glasses sat in flood water for days then packed in a box for several months and I've recently found them. Unfortunately, the lens are scratched to all hell and back and they are coated in some film that just won't come off. The frames are perfectly fine. I'm looking online on the Oakley website and they want $100 for replacements. I can find off brand replacements on Amazon for $10-$50. Any advice? There are several brands of replacements. Is it worth it to stay with original Oakley brand? Does it really make a difference at all?

I've used them a couple times. Good product, cheaper than buying new frames. I still rocking my old 5ives from high school

I'm under the impression that Oakleys have a lifetime warranty fwiw.

But go with the real deal.

$10 lenses... you'll get what you pay for.

Not for abuse or misuse which scratches certainly fall under.

That's kind of what I figured too.

That site says I have to be military or first responder and hints to a verification process. I'm neither.

Brand new polarized replacements for $32. I'm going to try these. I just can't see paying $70 more for the name on the lens.

I'll take your advice with a slight change. I'll buy fake replacements and then when I get a new girlfriend, she can buy me some better glasses.

That's the plan I'm going with.

I've used them twice and both sets of lenses fit perfectly.

I've gone with a couple different brand lenses in my Oakley's. (Found on ebay and amazon) It is really hit or miss on the look. One thing I noticed is that the off brands scratch wwaayyy easier than "official" oakley lenses.

Good luck

I needed some new rubber nose pads for the Flak Jackets I use golfing. Tried the Wallevah? brand. Starts with a W. Wasn't too much more to get all the rubber with a set of lenses so I went with that. Lenses were crap. My eyes are sensitive to if optics are off and the optics on the lenses were way off. Put them on once and literally just threw them away. I can feel the eye strains when the optics are off. I'll test this by closing one eye with my glasses on and stare at an object. Lift the glasses off and see if or how much the image shifts. .Replacement rubber worked great though.

I don't think my eyes are that sensitive. The only options I'm looking at are replacement Oakley lenses, knock off lenses, or a shitty pair of glasses from Wal Greens. I'm not spending $220 on a pair of glasses. I was fine with her doing it for my birthday, but no way in hell I'm spending that much for myself.

My decision is made up, I'm going with the Revant lenses. Only $32 so it's worth a shot.

I used ebay lenses in a pair of Juliets back in the day that were fine. Plus you could get colors that Oakley didn't offer. Sure, they aren't the highest quality lenses, but neither are factory Oakley lenses if we're being honest.

Agreed, and it's not a recent development. I got a polarized pair in the early 2000s, and within a few months whatever they used to coat the lenses had begun to pit and peel. Last time I wasted money on an Oakley product.

Go to e bay. Type in your frames. Lenses will appear as if by magic.

They have excellent customer service. EVERY time I had a return for a broken anything, they sent me a brand new pair. Just call Oakley and get a return authorization number and mail them the glasses.
